Given below is a step-by-step instruction (guidance) on how to sign a legal service agreement with our law firm using an electronic digital signature.
What electronic digital signatures may be used?
To begin with, you should have a personal computer to be able to sign a legal service agreement with an electronic digital signature (EDS) because your smartphone alone does not usually suffice to do it. Then it is an electronic digital signature itself you cannot do without (it may be either generated individually or obtained at no cost from such banking systems as Privat24, etc.).
An electronic digital signature or EDS is a password-protected file recorded either as a token or on a cloud-based system (usually an EDS file has such extensions as *.dat, *.pfx, *.pk8, *.zs2, *.jks). Alternatively, you can use the Diia.Signature application or your existing cloud signature (if so, no EDS file is needed).
Instructions on how to sign an agreement with an EDS using the EDIN service as an example
Alva Privacy Law Firm mostly uses the EDIN service to eSign documents. In addition, such services as Vchasno, Sota, Medoc, etc. may be used as well.
Having signed an agreement with our law firm, you receive an email from "noreply @ edin.ua" at EDIN, proposing to sign the document. The legal service agreement signed by us will be enclosed to this email (but merely for your reference / review).
Guidance / step-by-step algorithm to sign a document
Then you click at the link given in the email. If you are not registered with this service you pass through the registration. It takes a couple of minutes. You need to create and enter a password in the relevant fields. If an email and/or phone confirmation is needed you should follow the instructions on the website.
Having logged in (the interface looks similar to many emailing systems), you will find in your Inbox folder a letter from our firm with a legal service agreement enclosed for you to sign with an electronic digital signature.
To do this you click on Sign in the message window. A window pops up next prompting you to choose an EDS, either as a file key, Token, Hriada, Diia.Signature or Cloud. You choose your option and follow the instructions (to select an electronic digital signature file, enter your password to this file, select an EDS, etc.). If you choose to sign the agreement using Diia.Signature you will need to confirm your identity via phone (Diia application) and then follow the instructions to sign the agreement on your phone.
After signing you should make sure additionally that the agreement is signed: the last page of the document (Signature Page) must contain information that you have signed the document together with the exact time of signing and details of your digital signature.
Once you have affixed your EDS to the document, click on Send or Finish, as appropriate. Otherwise, if such option is unavailable you can additionally check the status of the document signing by going to the list of letters (in Free section on Inbox tab/folder): the letter status should change to “Completed” on a green background in the right corner.
That is it, you have just signed the document with an electronic digital signature. Please inform your lawyer at Alva Privacy or your contact with our law firm.
